Workplace Needs Assessments -

Dyslexia Workplace Solutions offer one to one Workplace Needs Assessments (WPNA) working with an individual and their organisation to identify suitable and effective adjustments to enable and empower staff to reach their maximum potential.

The best adjustments are those that are bespoke to that individual and their role - one size does not fit all. Generic assessments can waste time and money and be of little value to the staff member or organisation.

The impact of good adjustments can be significant especially in relation to improving staff wellbeing, attendance, performance and service delivery.

Workplace Needs Assessor Training

The next step from providing Workplace Needs Assessments, is to train your own staff as Workplace Needs Assessors. Successful delegates are accredited and certificated at level 4 in Dyslexia Awareness and Workplace Needs Assessing, the same level of accreditation recommended by the British Dyslexia Association.

The best assessments are done by those who know and understand the role, workplace and requirements of the individual. The best people to do that are your own staff. They know what systems and processes are being used, what examinations and/or assessments that individual may need to undertake and, as such, are likely to be best placed to make recommendations for reasonable adjustments that are both efficient and effective.

The benefits include creating an open and inclusive working environment where it is okay for people to think and be different and to be able to ask for help. Organisational culture becomes open and supportive and attendance, team performance, service delivery and retention of staff can be significantly improved.

Workplace Awareness Training for Staff & Supervisors

Dyslexia Workplace Solutions can work with organisations to provide bespoke training packages incorporating your organisations specific policies and procedures and/or targeting specific areas of business.

Training packages can be designed for any time duration, running multiple sessions in a day/week with any group size that is required.

The benefits of training your staff and managers are that they will understand and adhere to legislation, policy and procedures, minimising the risk of civil litigation and employment tribunals as well as being able to maximise the wellbeing, attendance, retention, performance and service delivery of all staff.

Workplace Dyslexia Screening Services

Dyslexia Workplace Solutions work with Pico Education using the computer based Quickscan & Quickscreen dyslexia screening tools.

We do not do psychological assessments or diagnose dyslexia. For persons under the age of 18 years and for adults with complex needs, we always recommend the expertise of an appropriately trained psychologist.

Quickscan takes only 15-30 minutes to give an indicator for dyslexia. It is simple and easy to use, easy to interpret and provides additional useful information for the individual undertaking the screening.

Quickscreen is far more in depth taking 1-3 hours, and can give an accurate indicator for dyslexia along with areas of strength, areas of challenge and a detailed, easy to read and understand report which can enable quick interventions, providing effective reasonable adjustments to be provided, maximising performance and service delivery

About Pete

Pete was trained by the British Dyslexia Association as a dyslexia workplace needs assessor whilst working for Hampshire Police. He went on to lead their dyslexia assessor program, with a team of over 20 assessors, supporting an organisation of over 5000 staff.

Having written a Workplace Needs Assessor Program to support dyslexia, Pete led the implementation and training of dyslexia support to Police Forces across the country. Nearly a thousand police staff from over 75% of the UK's Police Forces, have now been trained by Pete as workplace needs assessors.

Pete's company,
Dyslexia Workplace Solutions Ltd, is now working with Fire Services and the NHS whilst continuing to support Police Forces across the country.

It is also supporting and training private companies, both in the U.K. and abroad, to develop working practices that will support their dyslexic staff to achieve their maximum potential and for organisations to recognise the huge benefits of employing staff who think differently, can problem solve, are able to visualise concepts and lead teams.

Pete has seen first hand the benefits that this training and intervention has made with small, medium and large organisations and independent research on this model of support has identified and evidenced improvements for both staff and their organisations.

He is committed, passionate and dedicated to supporting others.

Comments from previous delegates;

I can honestly say that in 27 years in this organisation, this is the best course I have attended. The information and knowledge content is fantastic.                                                                                 Claire, Northumbria

Honestly, it just felt nice being able to be my normal self and I masked less as the week went on because I felt comfortable.
                                                                                                                 Sarah, Warwickshire

A really good structure to the program from simple to complex and promoting progressive learning. Having the opportunity to apply theory in a practical exercise was one of the highlights of the course.
                                                                                                              Robert, Avon & Somerset

Having completed a dyslexia assessor course elsewhere, this was far superior in every sense.                                                  Mark, W. Yorks

This should be mandatory for all trainers, could not praise the trainer any higher.                                                                        Hannah, Sussex

The course for me was brilliantly structured. It provided a good amount of overlearning and checks of knowledge. the trainer made the room a place to be able to share without judgement. A valuable course that will provide ACTUAL practical help to others, can't wait to get started.

                                                                           Lisa, Warwickshire

...delivered in a professional yet relaxed way and everyone was kept engaged by the content and material. I feel this will be one of the most helpful training experiences I have undertaken and I look forward to putting it into practice.                                    Paul, Kent

The course left me empowered to challenge others and left me feeling capable of managing the new tasks I will undertake.                                                                                         Ian, Humberside

Struggling to find any fault in this course. Very informative, engaging and straightforward to follow...A thoroughly enjoyable week of learning.                                           Aiden, Gwent
